On February 08, 2017, a fire in northeast Calgary gutted one home and caused substantial damage to two others. This fire was sparked in the community of Cityscape and caused heat damage to the exterior of six additional homes. A family lost everything they owned in this devastating catastrophe.
When fire department help arrived on scene at around 3 A.M., firefighters found a two-storey house under construction that was engulfed in flames. A news release from the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) said the home had been so consumed by the fire that by the time they arrived it had “already collapsed.”
WeCare Canada volunteers worked tirelessly with the Calgary communities to help the family in their emergency needs and thereafter for their settlement in their new home. The organization provided support and additional resources.
